Why your pest control company needs a website
If you’re like a lot of other small business owners, then online marketing is likely not one of your top priorities. You have a lot of other things to worry about – namely, running your business!
But the business world has changed a lot in the last decade, and the pest control industry isn’t immune to those changes. If you want to grow your business, it’s important that you build a presence for your company online. I have three good reasons for why you should get a website for your pest control business today, if you haven’t already.
It’s a simple fact that consumers are now in the habit of going online whenever they want to purchase anything. That means that when someone needs pest control, the first place they’re going to look for help is Google.
A lot of small business owners try to avoid the costs of building a website by creating a Facebook page or posting an ad on a free service like Craigslist. But ask yourself which looks more credible:
The first step with acquiring a new customer is establishing yourself as trustworthy. If they’re trying to decide between one company with a sketchy Craiglist ad and another company with an informative website that presents them as trustworthy and professional, there will be no contest.
Another hugely important reason for pest control companies to have websites is that even if someone hears about your business somewhere else (from a friend, from the Yellow Pages, from seeing your truck driving around town, etc.), they’re going to go online to check you out before they call you.
People today overwhelmingly expect to be able to check out a company online before they do business with you. If somebody finds pests in their home and asks for a recommendation, they could get a glowing review of your business from a friend, but they’re still going to head straight to Google and look for your website.
People want to check you out and learn more about your company. They want to see what you specialize in and how long you’ve been in business. They want to read testimonials from satisfied customers. Having a website means that your potential customers can find what they’re looking for without any trouble, and the information is on a website you control. What are people going to find if they google the name of your business and you don’t have a website?
And this is the big one. Most people who hire a pest control company don’t know which company they’re looking for. They don’t have a recommendation, and they don’t have your particular business in mind. Instead, they have a big problem – their home is infested with pests. And they’re looking for a solution.
Throughout the United States, hundreds of thousands of people search for “pest control” every month. Tens of thousands more search for help with specific pests like ants, cockroaches, termites, and bedbugs.
When these people do these searches, what they’re going to find is websites for pest control companies. If you have a website, it might be your business that they find and call for help. If it’s not you, it will be one of your competitors. Are you willing to lose access to this huge market of web searchers just because you don’t want to go through the trouble of building a website?
Pest control companies need great web design
Pest control is a highly competitive industry, and if you want to be able to compete and grow your business, investing in a website is the bare minimum. If you want to take things to the next level, you can invest in SEO and PPC to ensure that your site is the one potential customers are finding.
